Sustainable Forestry Investments currently sells high quality carbon credits (VCU) from their FSC certified reforestation project Form Ghana Ltd.

Form Ghana actively reforests 20,000 ha of degraded Forest Reserves in Ghana. Already over 10,000 ha have been planted and the project foresees an average expansion of 1,000-2,000 ha per year. Reforestation of degraded land generates long-term carbon storage capacity, offering high quality carbon credits that provide significant co-benefits to local communities and to the area’s ecology.

Project activities comprise CO2 sequestration in tree plantations with various tree species (exotic and indigenous), natural forest restoration in riparian buffer zones and harvesting of high quality timber for local and international markets. Currently, more than 10% of the area consists of indigenous vegetation and is actively being restored into its former state as productive forest.

Project activities are carried out and monitored according to rigorous and approved methodologies under the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) certification for a project period of 40 years. Social and environmental sustainability and significant contributions to the local economy are key objectives. Form Ghana maintains excellent community relations and has a Public Private Partnership with the traditional land owners and the Government of Ghana that governs sound collaboration and benefit sharing.

The project has fixed more than 200,000 tons of CO2 by 2018. By the end of 2025 this will be over 850,000 tons CO2. Tree planting, restoration of buffer zones, elimination of logging and forest conversion as well as the abandonment of fire and poaching have resulted in an increase of forest cover and wildlife and improved water and soil quality.

Purchasing carbon credits from Sustainable Forestry Investments will contribute to the growth and success of Form Ghana’s unique project and the multiple benefits that are related to reforestation. Buy credits to protect the planet and transform lives.
